3rd & final annual workshop & field day – 17 June 2025

Our 3rd and final annual workshop and field day was held at the Centralines Depot in Waipukurau; a place that has created spaces for community events.
There were around 65 attendees, hailing mainly from the East Coast and the Lower half of the North Island. The theme of the workshop was ‘Working Together’ and featured invited speakers from the Lake Whatumā Management Group, Tukituki Land Care/Pōrangahau-Maharakeke Catchment Group, Hawkes Bay Regional Council, NZ Landcare Trust, and Massey University Farmed Landscapes Research Centre. The speakers discussed their perspectives (Mātauranga Māori, Farming, Policy and Planning, and Science and Advisory) on working collaboratively to find and implement targeted and effective catchment-scale water quality solutions.
Attendees visited pilot trials of a Detainment BundPS120 and a Woodchip Bioreactor in the Maharakeke and Pōrangahau sub-catchments.
